DIRECT connector, 3P contacts

The uniCONNECT plug system features a robust blade and a highly durable socket connectors. Due to its design, it enables high pin counts of up to 28 pins within a compact form factor. The system supports over 3000 cycles, handling loads of up to 10A, making it ideal for use in model construction applications.

The blade connectors allow for reliable and straightforward soldering without risking to melt a plastic carrier. Additional features include strain relief, locking mechanisms, handle and bend protection. The contacts of the blade connectors remain visible, enabling immediate detection of damage or contamination.

The system's key advantage lies in its built-in double redundancy for critical control functions, integrated directly into the connector. For this reason, the system distinguishes between primary pins (dual connections for main functions) and secondary pins (single connections for auxiliary systems like lighting, landing gear, or brakes), rather than simply listing pin counts.

DIRECT refers to the product line designed for automatic contact between wing and fuselage during mechanical assembly. There are no dangling cables or connectors that could be damaged or contaminated. The blade connector directly contacts the socket during assembly. This is reliably achieved in uniCONNECT systems because the socket connectors are "floating," meaning they are flexibly mounted to their carrier. This allows them to move somewhat with slight wing vibrations or movements. However, the system is only suitable for rigidly mounted, right-angled, and precisely aligned connections. The connectors cannot compensate for mechanical strain caused by poor alignment.
